20,3 % Tourism is a major sector of economic activity, employing one in ten people worldwide and presenting many opportunities to boost the local economy. Like many other sectors, it has suffered from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, but we are seeing a gradual recovery. In Brno, for example, the total number of tourists in 2023 was only 3% lower than in 2019. We report on the performance of tourism in the Brno Metropolitan Area using data from the Czech Statistical Office on the occupancy and capacity of mass accommodation facilities. The statistics of guests who are not staying in the Brno region are represented by data from mobile operators.
