The Brno Metropolitan Area is home to more than 720,000 inhabitants, whose number has been growing steadily in recent years. This is due not only to the strong economic centre of Brno, but also to suburbanisation and internal migration to the nearest hinterland of Brno. However, natural population growth is slowed down by demographic ageing. This means that it is internal, but also external migration that will be a more significant driver of overall population figures in the future. Statistics on the age of the population, age distribution or birth rate in the metropolitan area are important for the analysis and prediction of changes in society. It is important to capture this data, for example, for planning primary and maternity projects, social services or also to predict the future spatial development of individual municipalities.
