The castle in Rosice will become an even more attractive place for lovers of history, tourism and art. The revitalization of the castle will emphasize its early modern Renaissance character, which will be ingeniously combined with the classical era. Visitors to this cultural monument can also look forward to interesting exhibitions soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the turn of the 16th and 17th century, a castle has stood on the site of a former 14th century castle, which boasts a rich and turbulent history. One of its most important owners, the Moravian governor Karel the Elder of \u017derot\u00edn, held talks with the envoys of King Matthias of Habsburg. The interior Renaissance style of the building also dates from that time, and the arcades, paintings, columns and some of the plasterwork remain to this day. In contrast, the grounds were subject to insensitive interventions, especially during the communist regime, when a fallout shelter was even built under the castle garden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nowadays the castle has been taken care of by the town of Rosice for over 30 years, but despite all the renovations it still bears traces of socialist management. It also lacks the necessary facilities. The aim of the project is to continue the structural restoration and rehabilitation of the castle. For example, the facades of the castle, windows, doors will be repaired and the new depository will be modified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The newly emerging restoration of the castle unconventionally connects its Renaissance pre-White Mountain history, centred on the personality of Karel the Elder of \u017derot\u00edn, with modern history, as an exhibition on the Cold War is planned in the civil defence shelter. On May 3, 2024, a new exhibition was also officially opened and dedicated to the legacy of Meda Ml\u00e1dkov\u00e1 and her husband Jan, who were important patrons of Czech culture and are buried in Rosice. Visitors can learn more about the life journey of this married couple and will also see selected works of art from their acclaimed collection. Revitalisation also includes a large-scale project of the Castle Garden, which is to serve the ecological education of children and youth and at the same time address the management of rainwater. Rosice Castle will thus become an attractive historical and touristic educational site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restoration of the castle in Rosice will cost CZK 28 million in this phase, more than a third of this amount, less than CZK 20 million, will be covered by a subsidy from the ITI tool. The project is part of the integrated solution Comprehensive development\/restoration of selected sites of cultural heritage with metropolitan overlap, which aims to develop cultural monuments in the Brno Metropolitan Area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
