The long-awaited children’s hospice House for Julie has been completed in Brno and will start receiving its first clients and their families in August. The House for Julie will provide support for children and adolescents who suffer from incurable diseases and need special and demanding care. The inauguration brings to a close a successful EU programming period 2014-2020<\/strong>, in which we have supported more than a hundred projects thanks to the Integrated Territorial Investments (ITI) tool.<\/p>\n\n

The total cost of the hospice construction amounted to CZK 184.5 million, of which CZK 86 million was a subsidy through the ITI tool<\/strong>. The remaining amount was covered by the City of Brno and private donors. The House for Julie has not only comfortable and friendly premises for sick children, but also facilities for their families to be close to the children throughout their treatment.<\/p>\n\n

Hospice focuses on providing palliative care, which includes medical assistance as well as psychotherapeutic, therapeutic and social support, together with spiritual support for the patient and their loved ones. The aim is to improve the quality of life of sick children and their families, to alleviate their suffering and to provide them with a dignified environment during difficult times. The children’s hospice House for Julie is the first of its kind in the Czech Republic and represents a significant step forward in the field of children’s palliative care<\/strong>. The opening ceremony of the House for Julie marks the end of the 2014-2020 programming period for us. The project was approved by the Steering Committee of the Brno Metropolitan Area on 11 May 2021 as one of the last ones. It is also one of the projects from the last programming period, for the completion of which we have been waiting patiently. In total, we supported 125 projects worth CZK 5.2 billion<\/strong> in the previous programming period. We also present selected integrated solutions on our website<\/strong><\/a>. You will find there, for example, a project of flood protection measures, a traffic solutions in the Trnit\u00e1 area and much more.<\/p>\n\n

In the current period we have already allocated CZK 6.2 billion of the total CZK 8 billion through 97 supported projects<\/strong>. Five projects have already been implemented (Purchases of trolleybuses, kindergartens in \u0160aratice, Ochoz u Brna and the kindergarten in the Brno-Bystrc district), 46 of them are already in physical realisation and construction work will soon begin on other projects that have already been issued with a legal act and are currently selecting construction companies (for example, the projects for the revitalisation of the Rosa Coeli Monastery).
